Nacional moved above Pacos Ferreira into sixth place in the Portuguese Liga thanks a 1-0 victory when the sides met on Monday evening.
Substitute Edgar Costa netted the game's only goal in the 84th minute, with Nacional holding on despite the late dismissal of Bruno Amaro.
The result moved Nacional a point above Pacos and five points behind fourth-placed Sporting Lisbon, who hold the final Europa League berth.
